Hello and welcome to another episode of the Placemaking Podcast!
I am excited to share this next conversation with all of you. This week, I have Elizabeth Fountain, P.E., CFM, on the show. Elizabeth is the Principal and Vice President at J.R. Evans Engineering in Estero, Florida. As director of the floodplain management department at J.R. Evans, Ms. Fountain specializes in services related to flood zone mapping and analysis, flood protection analysis and flood proofing services. Her insight into managing successful projects comes from a deep understanding in the value of hard work as well as an enjoyment in discovering solutions to multifaceted problems.
The engineering firm she works with, J.R. Evans Engineering, provides professional services in land development design and entitlement, floodplain management, flood zone modifications and hydrologic restoration projects within Florida. The firm’s principals combine experience and expertise in the practice of Professional Engineering to provide clients with superior technical service.
In this episode, we are going to dive into the often-misunderstood terminology used in FEMA Flood Maps. We will discuss common misconceptions when it comes to flood hazard zones and reclamation. Also, we will discuss the various means and methods for floodplain reclamation.
